About Us

RunningAwards.com was started because there is a growing need for awards, medals and trophies from people who know the needs of Race Directors and their customers, the runner.

Our company is made up of people with a passion for running. Because we are a division of National Engravers, Inc., we have access to a vast base of industry knowledge and expertise. Since we are runners we know what the expectations of the community are, and can work with you, the race director to meet and exceed your needs.

Our experiences in receiving finisher's medals at Marathons and Half Marathons have given us insight into what to suggest and offer in our product line. Some of the faster runners in our group have received age group awards and other memorable recognition of their achievements.

Right now we only offer services to Race Directors for medals, plaques, glass and trophies we can produce in our Winfield, Illinois factory. We do outsource some of our medallion production overseas to remain competitive. We can handle races from 1 mile fun runs, to 5Ks, 10Ks, Half Marathons, Marathons, and more. With our in-house capabilities we can make your next awards order a stress-free event.

Since we only do awards and trophies we can focus on what we have perfected over the last two decades. We can provide referrals for many other aspects of your race needs like shirts, timing companies, bib companies, and anything else we can to help you make your race a success.

Pat Gleason - Account Sales Representative for Running Awards

Pat can be found most Saturday mornings running with 200 of her closest friends leading a pace group for fall marathons or training all winter for a spring race. She will run her third Boston Marathon in April 2011 which will be her 21st marathon since getting hooked in 2003 when she ran her first in Chicago. She loves to talk (and win) race medals and awards but more importantly has her pulse on the running community. She is a member of the Chicago Area Runners Association which provides her feedback from the running community not to mention from the Race Directors she calls every day while on the job. She's never met a runner she hasn't liked and approaches running from the viewpoint of George Sheehan: "The obsession with running is really an obsession with the potential for more and more life."

Paul Aguilar - General Sales Manager of Running Awards

Paul joined the Running Awards in 2011. An Exercise Physiologist by training, Paul has spent the better part of his career in business development. No stranger to running, Paul ran his first race in 1973 and has never looked back except to look at those passing him! He recalls his first pair of running shoes - Tiger Pinto's that lasted 3 years -s to the wonders of duct tape. He upgraded on his next pair that had two revolutionary breakthroughs - insoles and waffle treads! He now prefers his Nike Vomero's. When he is not on the road pounding pavement he can be found on the diamond playing baseball! He is also an area race coordinator for the Fox Valley Races. He has served on the Eastern Illinois University Alumni Association's Board of Directors and is a Board Member of Indiana Sports Charities dedicated to supporting area cancer centers.

Scott McTurner - Sales Consultant & Staff Runner

“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” T.S. Eliot An avid runner since 1990, Scott has competed in over 50 races to include marathons, ultra marathons and triathlons. Additionally, having spent over nine years in the Marine Corps, he was able to run in 11 different countries claiming "the best way to really see the world is on foot." With over seven years in the Specialty Running Retail industry, Scott has a vast knowledge of running events and all that running encompasses. He comes to Running Awards with a Bachelors in Marketing from North Central College and is passionate about helping race directors provide their entrants with a complete race experience that they will never forget.

Gary Tinker - Principal of Running Awards

Being successful at a business and being a successful in your running have a lot in common. You need to have a discipline, a skill, and a solid plan for success. Gary has been involved in the running community for many years. He has run more than 25 marathons and Ultra marathons including a couple of 100 milers. Running trails is his passion. Geri Mondek - Accounting Manager

Geri has worked as the Accounting Manager for National Engravers, parent company of Running Awards, for over 6 years. After working with owner Gary Tinker for four years his passion for running began to rub off on her. She started running with the intention to run one half marathon. Within the last two years she has run in multiple 5K's, 10K's, three half marathons and three marathons. Geri's plans are to continue running in various races with her main goal of running two marathons a year.

Fabiola Correa - Inventory Control

Fabiola didn't know when she started working at National Engravers almost three years ago in Production that she would catch the running bug. She now heads up our Inventory Department at our on-site warehouse and is the proud owner of a Running Awards plaque which she earned her first time out running a 5K. "I never imagined myself doing a 3-mile race until my co-workers talked me into doing one. I was nervous but excited to try something different." Fabi, as she is known at work, has been playing competitive soccer for 13 years. "I'm glad I did the race, not only for the experience but it was also for a good cause. I look forward to more races in the future. Who knows? Someday I'll do a marathon!"
